Of the 127,828 winning Lucky for Life tickets sold across 26 states for the March 7 drawing, only one was a top-prize winner, from Connecticut. In Connecticut alone, there were a total of 11,345 lucky winners with prizes ranging from $3 to "$1,000 a day for life” statewide.
Lucky for Life is a unique lottery game, because its top prize value is based on the longevity of the winner. The minimum guaranteed amount Lucky for Life top prize annuity winners could receive is $7,300,000 ($1,000 a day for 20 years), but winners who live longer than that will receive prize payments for the remainder of their natural life. Lucky for Life top prize winners also have the option to claim their prize in a one-time cash lump sum of $5,750,000.
For selling the winning ticket, Honey Bee Farms will receive a $20,000 bonus from the CT Lottery.
Under the current version of Lucky for Life, which began in January 2015, the top prize has been won a total of 14 times. Lucky's second prize – worth $25,000 a year for life – has been won a total of 218 times; 24 of which occurred in Connecticut.
All draw game tickets expire 180 calendar days from the draw date, and players are encouraged to check their tickets carefully. Lucky for Life winners for the March 7, 2019 drawing have until Tuesday, September 3, 2019 to claim their prizes before tickets expire.
