CT Lottery Participates in First Annual Lottery Week Kicking Off NationallyFor the first time ever, the CT Lottery, in collaboration with lotteries across North America, has declared the week of July 15th as the inaugural observance of Lottery Week. Lottery Week is a celebration of lotteries across the United States and Canada, in acknowledgement of their collective contributions to the communities they serve.

As part of the first Lottery Week, the CT Lottery will highlight across its social media its contributions to the state of Connecticut, and the week will culminate on Friday, July 19, with the “Save a Life, Win for Life” Blood Drive with the American Red Cross, at the CT Lottery’s headquarters in Rocky Hill.

All eligible, of-age presenting donors will receive a $5 “Win up to $7,500 a Month for Life” scratch ticket as a thank you from the CT Lottery (non-eligible and/or under-18 donors will receive a $5 coffee gift card).

As much as 96 percent of funds generated from traditional U.S. lottery games goes directly back into the economy through prizes, public beneficiaries and retailer commissions. In Connecticut, the CT Lottery returned $370 million to the state’s General Fund in FY2019 – the equivalent of more than $1 million per day.

Beyond the numbers, lottery organizations and their partners are often involved in directly supporting local causes as well, by hosting events like food drives and community cleanups. They team up with responsible gambling groups to educate their retailers and consumers, and to help encourage safe, responsible play. And, of course, they provide a fun, exciting source of entertainment for all their players – not to mention a big payout for the lucky winners.
