Connecticut Lottery Corporation Returns $406 Million in Lottery Profits to the State in Fiscal Year 2022, Second Best in 50-Year HistoryROCKY HILL, CT/July 12, 2022 – The Connecticut Lottery Corporation (CLC) capped its 50th year by returning $406 million (unaudited) in lottery profits to the State in the 2022 fiscal year (ending June 30, 2022), second only to last fiscal year’s record profits. Lottery sales totaled $1.45 billion, which included $839 million in instant game sales and $611 million in draw game sales.

“We’re proud of what we have been able to accomplish in this milestone year for the Connecticut Lottery,” said Greg Smith, President and CEO, Connecticut Lottery Corporation. “With all the new gaming options available in Connecticut in fiscal year 2022, and additions yet to come, the CLC continues to be a reliable revenue-generator for the state.”

Connecticut Lottery players won more than $910 million in prize money in FY22, and retailers earned more than $81 million in commissions. These numbers also represent the second-highest amounts ever in player prizes and retailer commissions.

Additional highlights of the fiscal year include a $185 million Powerball jackpot winner – Connecticut’s first since 2012 -- and continued growth in Keno, which brought in nearly $142 million in sales for the year and has seen an increase in sales each year since its introduction in 2016.

The Connecticut Lottery also had a breakthrough year in its responsible gambling efforts, donating a record 15,000 toys to Connecticut Children’s, as part of its 8th annual “Give a Child a Toy, Not a Ticket” holiday toy drive. The CLC spearheaded the effort, together with iHeart Radio and Connecticut Stop & Shop stores, to spread the responsible gambling message that lottery tickets are not suitable for children. In addition, the CLC continued its support of $2.3 million to the CT Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) Chronic Gamblers Treatment and Rehabilitation Fund. The Connecticut Lottery also sponsored various responsible gambling efforts throughout the year in collaboration with the Partnership members – the Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling and the Problem Gambling Services department at DMHAS.
