Powerball Jackpot Reaches World Record $1.9 Billion; Wise Winnings Financial Literacy Program Available for Connecticut Lottery Winners at All Prize Levels at No Cost

November 7, 2022 – Powerball’s Guinness World Record jackpot run is not over yet! The Powerball® jackpot now stands at an estimated $1.9 billion with a cash option of $929.1 million for tonight’s drawing. This jackpot is the “Largest National Lottery Jackpot” ever, and Monday night’s drawing will be the 41st since Powerball was last won on Aug. 3, 2022.

In Connecticut, the Saturday, Nov. 5, Powerball drawing alone produced 139,558 winning tickets, with three $50,000 winners. Since this Powerball run began after the August 3 drawing, Connecticut has produced:

=         1 - $2 million winner;

=         1 - $1 million winner;

=         2 - $100,000 winners;

=         16 - $50,000 winners.

With Powerball producing hundreds of thousands of winners in the state, the Connecticut Lottery reminds its players that they have no-cost financial literacy and advice available to them through Wise Winnings, the Connecticut Lottery Corporation’s joint effort with Credit Unions Building Financial Independence (CUBFI).

This collaboration is the first-of-its-kind in the country and offers no-cost financial advice to Connecticut Lottery cash prize-winners, along with helpful tips on making a plan for a sudden windfall. The program provides winners with an avenue to find, and meet with, a trained credit union financial counselor to create an individualized plan for their money. CLC and CUBFI have established a dedicated website – WiseWinnings.com – for the program, and every Connecticut Lottery player who wins $600 or more will receive an informational brochure with their prize check. CLC and CUBFI will also promote Wise Winnings on each organization’s websites and social media accounts.

Wise Winnings is part of the Connecticut Lottery’s larger responsible gambling efforts, which include educational campaigns and materials on how to gamble safely, monetary and in-kind contributions towards problem gambling programs and services, retailer and employee trainings, and more.
