Record Powerball Jackpot Run Results in More Than $48 Million in Connecticut Sales and More Than $18 Million to the Connecticut General Fund

Four Prizes of $50,000 Won in the State in November 7 Drawing

November 9, 2022 – The recent record Powerball jackpot run that culminated with the November 7^ drawing for the largest national lottery jackpot ever ($2.04 billion), resulted in more than $48 million in Connecticut Powerball sales, and contributed more than $18 million to the state’s General Fund.

“We’re pleased to return the proceeds of this historic Powerball run to the state,” said Greg Smith, President & CEO, Connecticut Lottery Corporation. “Though we did not have a jackpot winner in Connecticut, everyone in the state benefits from this incredible stretch through the various services and programs that the General Fund supports.”

From August 4, 2022, when the run began, through the November 7 drawing, Connecticut players won $10 million in prizes, and more than 800,000 winning tickets were sold in the state. Included in those tickets were:

  • 1 prize of $2 Million;
  • 1 prize of $1 Million;
  • 2 prizes of $100,000;
  • 20 prizes of $50,000.

For the November 7 drawing, the CT Lottery sold more than 140,000 winning tickets, and four of those were for $50,000. Those winning tickets were sold at:

  • Ellington Road Runners, Ellington;
  • Westport Amoco, Westport;
  • Stratford Cigar & Smoke Shop, Stratford;
  • Skay Line (Gulf), Cromwell.

Players for the November 7 drawing have 180 calendar days from November 8 (due to the delay) -- or until May 7, 2023 -- to claim their winning tickets. Prizes for this drawing ranged from $4 for simply matching the Powerball number, to the $50,000 prizes for matching four numbers and the Powerball number. The overall odds of Powerball or Powerball with Power Play are 1 in 24.9. Jackpot odds are 1 in 292,201,338.
